Introducing to you… a larger-than-normal size peanut pocky!
Peanut Pocky. Price: 298yen (S$5)
Instead of the usual 3 packets, this pocky has 6 packets of 3 in it! It seems like in Japan, unlike in Singapore, they like to package their pocky in snack-friendly packages rather than one huge packet. That’s a good idea to prevent myself from eating less but shucks there’s sooo much plastic wasted, but then again they arrange the trash accordingly… (no wait, but if you think again, although these plastics are being sorted out from the other trash, plastic cannot actually be recycled right? xP)
Now before I move on to the taste test, I’m sure many Singaporeans are very familiar with the almond-version of the pocky, so I actually bought both so we may use that as a comparison!
This one is the almond crush we all know, but it says that there is a 20% increase in the amount of crushed almonds on the pocky. Price: 138yen (S$2.40)
It’s a usual sized pocky, and as you can see there are 3 individually-wrapped packets.
Now comes to the taste test: The peanut pocky has a very strong and solid taste of peanuts, like how peanuts are supposed to taste like I guess! The almond one has a lighter taste and had more of a crunch than the peanuts, sort of like the almond flakes but in slightly thicker. Although there was claimed to be an increase in the amount of almonds on the pocky, the overall taste still feels lighter than the peanut pocky which has a denser and more heavy taste. Okayy i’m trying my best here but i’m not a food commentator, arghhhh. >.< I do prefer the almond one though, because i love almonds on it’s own rather than peanuts
I’m still deciding whether this should be just entry 4 or entry 4+5! Depending on the number of unique-looking pocky i can find! I do hope to find some that are non-chocolate though, because besides the premium strawberry flavoured one the Japanese seem to love chocolate ones….
